Top 10 New Cars in 2015

This year the auto-manufacturers have worked hard to update their product lists. 2015 is a good year for luxury sedans, cool sports cars and pickup trucks. A range of novices has been introduced to the avid eyes of potential buyers or just ardent auto fans. It is a real time of new concepts, fascinating tuning-ups and even weird outlooks. The newcomers are numerous, so we will take the cream of every car category. However, we must admit we are biased.

Vauxhall Viva (Opel Karl)

City cars are still in demand in Europe and Great Britain. Vauxhall Viva (or Opel Karl) for Europeans is a 2015 addition to that car category. A 1.0-litre car is packed with all the current necessities depending on the package price. The cheaper one will include all the basics, while owners of the more expensive one would be able to enjoy a climate control, USB connectivity, a leather-covered steering wheel, and a Winter Pack as an option for North Europe. There is hardly much to be told about the car. The coolest fact: it is one of the cheapest available at the market. Yet, the range of its competitors is impressive: Skoda Citigo, Toyota Aygo, SEAT Mii and Kia Picanto.

This year Ford represents a Ford S-MAX MPV The outlook is similar to other current Ford models such as B-Max and Fiesta, the car also has a Ford well-known panoramic widescreen. The car has been equipped with new engines, both gasoline and diesel with improved fuel efficiency and CO2 emission figures. There is a more refined sound insulation system, a central controlling touch screen, and a voice recognition system to manage certain functions. New technologies are also on board. A road sign detection system ensures that you drive within a speed limit, while Pedestrian Detection and Pre-Collision Assist guarantee the trip safety.

Volvo S60 Cross Country

Creating a mix is a popular trend. Automakers keep to that trend as well. Swedish auto manufacturers have come up with a fresh mix of a sedan and a cross-over calling it Volvo S60 Cross Country. The core audience is yet unclear. The car seems to be a regular S60 sedan with benefits, such as a raised suspension system, a lifted body, high-profile tires and a four wheel drive. Volvo is obviously aiming U.S. customers as the company region sales leave much to be desired. Yet, the experiment seems a bit risky. God, save Volvo.

Ford F150

The Ford F150 is, no doubt, the most publicized debut of the year. Big brutal trucks are again in high demand due to extremely low fuel prices which is a good stimulus for sales of F150 and its close competitors from Toyota, Chevrolet and GMC. Due to its aluminum body and bed F150 is about 700 pounds lighter which contributes to its fuel consumption figures. The car features a 3.5L 365-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine and reaches 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds.

The stopping power test results equal to 179 feet. The overall car styling was taken from the Tonka Truck concept while the interior was significantly improved and stuffed with additional options. The car once meant for range riders’ needs now is a bit over digitized: 2 control and productivity screens, a dual zone climate control activated by voice, a lane keeping assist, a dynamic hitch assist, blind-spot warning and collision mitigation systems, massaging seats and what not. The car fits a new “luxury pickup truck” concept quite gracefully. That’s luxury at the price range of $25,000-60,000.

Audi’s Q7 SUV

The latest Audi’s Q7 SUV keeps to the trend of slashing pounds. The engineers managed to increase that number to 717. Firstly, the car is stripped of most of its off-pavement abilities. Secondly, some body elements (such as fenders) are formed of so-popular aluminum. The cabin is nice to sit in; the dashboard is redesigned and does look Q 7 carries a 333-hp 3.0-liter V-6 or a V-6 TDI turbo-diesel with just 272 hp.

Audi is famous for its performance enhancing and driver-assistance technologies. In fact, the latest Q7 is stuffed with them, starting from brake-based torque-vectoring system and lane departure warning to Traffic Jam Assistant, till then experimental. Audi still promises even more fantastic features such as steering around obstacles in the road and stopping the car if turning left to drive against the traffic. What you see is artificial intelligence in full swing.

Toyota Mirai

Toyota Mirai unveiled at the end of 2014 in Los Angeles is hydrogen fuel cell vehicle which makes it green, efficient, and worth mentioning. The outlook is a bit strange, the rear being a bit of a catamaran shape. The point is that a bit weird look might be called futuristic thus justifying the car name which means “future”.

The future is viewed as quite dark, by the way, as Mirai can be a mini power station for an average household for six days. A nickel-metal-hydride battery and a fuel cell stack are the vehicle core. The available tanks are enough to run about 300 miles. The main problem is with the available infrastructure. So far, Mirai will be sold in Japan and California. Yet, there are even more concerns with hydrogen prices and the cost of fuel-cell powertrain change.

BMW 7-Series

The 2015 BMW 7-Series is one of the most reputable sedans in the world. We must admit that there are enough reasons to make such assumptions. The model lineup has not been redesigned for about 5 years, although every year German car engineers add some updates to the package. 2015 will also bring several new features. The car became much lighter due to certain elements made of carbon fiber.

Weight loss will positively impact braking performance, car handling and fuel efficiency indices. A plug-in hybrid will join a wide selection of available powertrain options. Unfortunately, there are no revolutionary exterior changes and the car remains a good old BMW 7 Series we all got used to. The technology features include autonomous driving (to some extent), automatic parking and full Wi-Fi capability. Do you really need an iPhone having a BMW?

Jaguar XE

Jaguar was really lacking a compact executive car. New Jaguar XE added to the compact premium saloon selection and now has to combat its close competitors such as Audi A4 (an updated 2015 version), BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes C-Class. 5 different packages and 5 engine types are available. The body shell is 75 percent made of aluminum in line with the latest auto manufacturing trends.

The steel is kept for the doors and rear to balance the car while the suspension is also aluminum. The interior is comfortable, the controls are good, and there is a pack of driver-assistance options and finger-friendly interfaces. In general, nothing odd or extraordinary, which is expected in cars of the category. Whether it will provide a full-scale competition and lure customers away from German car brands only time will tell.

McLaren 570S

The new entry point in McLaren brand list is taken by the 570S coupe model. There is something similar to a usual McLaren car outlook yet the new model is quite distinctive. The car will set you back $184,900. However, one gets a lot for that money. All the latest auto-manufacturing ideas were exploited in the model: an aluminum body, carbon fiber chassis, 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 which can make 204mph, a fully independent adjustable suspension system and ceramic disc brakes. The acceleration test figures are also fantastic. The ceramic brakes provide enough stopping power to control that.

Fuel efficiency is another peculiar trait of the car, however strange it might seem. People buying cars of the kind rarely care for fuel expenses. The company scientists did their best and the fuel consumption index is quite impressive for the overall company performance: 25.5mpg. An increased car tax for 258g/km CO2 emissions does not count. Being a sports car usually implies lack of practical approach and comfortable options. With 570S coupe model that’s not the case: comfort seats with leather upholstery, a seven-inch touchscreen, and a cool audio system are available.

Porsche 918 Spyder

2015 Porsche 918 Spyder is, yet, even cooler, with a price starting at about $850,000.   62mph can be reached in less than 3 seconds which makes it one of the fastest cars on Earth available. 887 hps are delivered by a V8 engine. Porsche still tries to unite efficiency and performance and it seems to be a success. It is unclear what else to say about the car which is mostly meant for showrooms and millionaire superheroes such as Batman.
